Da Vinci Days Volunteers Pay Tribute to Original Renaissance Man With Free Cake and Award-Winning Kinetic Sculptures
Corvallis, Ore. (April 7, 2006)—Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15th at the Corvallis Farmer's Market, da Vinci Days volunteers will honor Leonardo da Vinci's birthday by serving free slices of cake and answering questions about this year's festival.
In addition, two popular kinetic sculptures will be on display at the Corvallis Riverfront, along with their creators who will show and tell how their human-powered vehicles operate. Don't miss this opportunity to get an up-close look at these marvelous and often hilarious examples of creativity and engineering. And of course, to get a piece of birthday cake!
Da Vinci Days, a three-day community festival celebrating the crossroads of art, science and technology, is named in honor of Leonardo da Vinci, world-famous artist, inventor, architect and engineer. Inspired by Leonardo's creative explorations, the 2006 festival theme is Tools for Change. With this timely theme for the 21st century, the festival will showcase advances in assistive technology aimed at helping disabled and other special needs populations, along with pioneering breakthroughs in the art and science of living.

Da Vinci Days, a summertime-fun community festival celebrating the crossroads of art, science and technology, is a tradition in Corvallis, Oregon. Marking the 18th annual da Vinci Days, this year's festival runs from July 14-16, with online ticket sales beginning May 1, 2006. Da Vinci Days is produced each year with the help of nearly 1,000 volunteers and support from hundreds of sponsors and donors.
